At one hour in the car of Toulouse, on D517 in the south of the lake on the ganguise, a village with the quite strange habits is:

It is not that word of mouth one speaks about the enfeu of Cumiès. It thinks that there low, of the inhabitants were buried in quite strange manner.

The enfeu, thus named although not corresponding to the usual definitions, consists of a niche of which the horizontal part is open on a small pit.

According to statements' of one living of Baraigne, the body of late was wide in the niche, while waiting for that the body in decomposition falls into the pit.

It seems that the rules of the legal settlement of 1801 prohibited this practice.

Nowadays, the bones are always there, but I did not find a confirmation with this testimony yet.

Good visit !

J-Marc Poudevigne.
